IoT Monitoring for Onboard Sanitary Efficiency
For Sanitrade, we developed an IoT system for the continuous monitoring of the efficiency of vacuum-based sanitary systems on cruise ships. The main requirement was to create a compact device with ultra-low power consumption and a battery life of at least four years, ensured by an essential yet robust hardware design. LoRa-based communication was implemented to guarantee coverage even in complex environments.

Technological Integration for Optimized Management
Our work included the PCB design (including the radio component), firmware development, and 3D-printed casing creation.
To simplify device onboarding and configuration, we also developed an Android app, while a Web software and a local dashboard display acquired data, organized by decks and cabins, facilitating quick issue detection.
This combination of continuous monitoring and ease of use provides a significant advantage for maintenance teams. By reducing failures and malfunctions, passenger experience improves, and management costs are optimized. Sanitrade can thus offer an efficient, scalable service seamlessly integrated with other onboard components.

With a strong focus on economies of scale, the hardware is designed for large-scale manufacturing while maintaining high reliability standards. Additionally, the adoption of a modular format simplifies future upgrades or extensions, allowing Sanitrade to quickly adapt to new requirements.
